Whenever the surgery is closed, including bank holidays and weekends, a recorded message will give the phone number at which the duty doctor can be reached. Please do call at night if there is a genuine emergency, but if the problem can wait until the following day, this is preferable.
The practice participates in the South East London doctors Co-operative (SELDOC). The number for SELDOC is 020 8693 9066.
On the 3rd Thursday of each month the practice participates in CCG Sponsored Training and the phones are put over to SELDOC from 1230-1630, however the main doors are open.
This service is made up of local doctors and operates from 18:30 - 07:45 Monday to Friday and 18:30 Friday to 07:45 Mondays and all public & bank Holidays
The duty doctor will either:
The Waldron GP Led Walk-in Centre situated at the Waldron Health Centre, Amersham Vale London SE14 6LD (Tel 020 3049 2370), is the nearest walk-in medical centre taking registered and non registered patients from 0800 to 2000, 7 days a week.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
We offer a more flexible arrangement for telephone triage appointments on Thursdays from 1300 - 1800 and from 1830 - 1930 we also offer our Late Evening appointments via the telephone triage service.
On the 1st Thursday of each month the Practice Manager attends the Southwark Practice Management forum where he meets his fellow colleagues from around other Southwark practices to hear the latest news fm NHS England, Southwark CCG, IHL and other associated Health Partners.
The 2nd Thursday of the month we hold a monthly Full Staff Meeting where the GP Partners meet the other staff members and clinicians to discuss latest work plans, initiatives and to hear "round the table" updates and comments from all the staff. The front door may be closed for a short period during this meeting (1200-1245).
As mentioned on the 3rd Thursday of each month the practice staff participate in CCG sponsored Protected Learning Time (PLT) at Millwall FC (there are CCG led training and learning events for all Southwark Practice staffs) and phones are switched over to the SELDOC Operations room for the period 1230 - 1630.
Finally on the 4th Thursday of each month some members of the Practice Team attend the CCG Locality Meeting at East Dulwich Hospital to hear latest updates from the CCG and performance and other issues. Running back to back with this meeting is the IHL Members meeting for all practices in South Southwark.
Each Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday morning (from 0730 until last appointment 0750) we offer a number of early morning extended hours appointments - these will be of benefit to those wishing to get to work but not miss too much of the morning or maybe for those who might not be available during the normal working day. To book these you must go through the Telephone Triage system asking for "an early morning or late Thurs evening Extended Access Appointment" - the GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner will then call you back and allocate as appropriate at the time and to your needs if one of these appointments is available.
Tuesday Morning 0730 - 0800 last appointment 0750 - usally 2 GPs
Wednesday Morning 0730 - 0800 last appointment 0750 - usually 2 GPs
Thursday Evening 1830 - 1930 last appointment 1820 - usally 1 GP, 1 Practice Nurse and 1 HCA
Friday Morning 0730 - 0830 last appointment 0750 - usually 2 GPs
Please note that any calls received after 1000 may not be responded to on the day
This facility, located in the Lister Health Centre in Peckham, offers all 23 GP practices a number of GP and Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) appointments when there are none available at that time at the host practice (us here at Camberwell).
When the GP, ANP or staff member here at Camberwell Green discusses your illness or care issue he/she will sometimes offer you an appointment at this Extended Access Centre as this will be the quickest or earliest chance for you to see a GP/ANP for your issue - it is very strongly advised that you take up this offer of the appointment at IHL as it will mean you will be seen and hopefully sorted out to your health care needs v quickly.
IHL also has a number of slots where they will ring you back to discuss your matters (similarly like our GPs do here) and again if deemed appropriate they will offer you an appointment direct and ask you to come and see them that day/early the next day.
This is a very valuable and worthy Primary Care GP service which all practices in South Southwark are working with to ensure we all can offer as much patient access as possible.
For info, the IHL Extended Access Centre is open 8 - 8, 7 days a week but it is NOT a walk in centre - our patients who need GP services out of hours are able to ring SELDOC after 630pm each day and all weekend via our telephone number, and SELDOC will arrange to assist you accordingly.
