Routine appointments

Appointments may be booked:

in person
by telephone
by using online services such as the NHS App.

Routine telephone appointments to speak to a GP can be made up to one month in advance

Routine face to face appointments with a GP are available to book in advance

Routine face to face appointments with a Practice Nurse or Health Care Assistance are available to book up to one month in advance

All bookable appointments will be subject to availability, if you cannot see a suitable appointment please telephone the practice.

Children under 5 and patients with urgent problems will usually be triaged on the same day or where practicable may usually be seen on the same day if this is considered clinically necessary by a GP.

Cancelling your appointment

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible so that it can be offered to someone who needs it.

To help you we have made the cancellation process easier, you may reply to the appointment reminder sms with the word ‘CANCEL’ and your appointment will be automatically cancelled.

Urgent Appointments

For clinical advice and guidance we operate a same day clinical triage system. To access this we ask that patients do the following:

Call us between the hours of 08:00 and 10:00 on 020 7703 3788

Please WAIT in the queue until we answer your call or select the option for a CALL BACK- we have lots of staff answering calls during these hours.

DO NOT hang up and redial - this will put you to the back of the queue

DO try and answer the questions staff are asking you, these being

Your date of birth
Your name
Your address
The reason for your call

We ask for a reason so that we can place you on the call back list most appropriate for you and your problem.

Interpreters

Please note that we have access to telephone interpreting services and would be happy to arrange these for registration and for your appointments. Please make your needs clear to the receptionist at the time of booking the appointment for this to be arranged in advance. You may be required to book two appointment slots.

Our Clinical Team

In addition to our GPs and to ensure that our patients have equal access to core primary care services here at Camberwell Green Surgery we have a team of highly skilled clinicians.

Paramedic - their training allows them to quickly but thoroughly assess the condition of patients with acute conditions. The paramedic is also highly suited to making home visits to our patients.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) - these are nurses that have the training and the authority in patient diagnosis and are trusted to independantly assess, diagnose, manage and care for patients with complex clinical issues.

Clinical Pharmacist - they work to improve outcomes from medicines and consult with and treat patients directly. This includes providing extra help to manage long-term conditions, advice for those on multiple medicines and better access to health checks.

Physicians Associate - work directly with patients diagnosing and treating common illnesses.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner - work directly with patients providing immediate access to specialist advice and urgent help using evidence-based interventions.

In addition to the above we also have a daily 'Oncall clincian' who is responsible for dealing with requests for:

Sick certificates
Medication queries (not repeat medication requests)
E-consults
Home visits
Emergency calls - via 111 or LAS

For any same day query please try to call us as early as possible as our call back list may close earlier than 10:00 should the practice reach capacity for the day.

Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. If you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling 020 7703 3788 before 10:00.

We would request that, apart from the genuinely housebound, all other patients contact the surgery in the usual way rather than request a home visit. Your request will be reviewed and assessed by the oncall clinician who will decide on if a visit is needed.

Your doctor may refer you for a home visit by a community nurse or may refer you to another Community Service for the care that you need.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to offer the slot to someone else.

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
