Clinic Hours

Appointments are allocated using the Telephone Triage System. To request a Doctor/Nurse appointment you must call between 08:00 and 10:00. When you call in, a member of staff will put you on the appropriate telephone call back list and a Doctor or Advanced Nurse Practitioner will call you back that day (or next day if not urgent) to discuss your issues and make the appropriate appointment for you.  

When We Are Closed

From 26 February 2019

Whenever the surgery is closed, including Bank Holidays and weekends, the practice cover is provided by the new "111 Integrated Emergency Care Service (ex SELDOC) - this service can be accessed by dialing 111 or via the online service at 111.nhs.uk.

Telephone 111 at night if there is a genuine emergency, but if the problem can wait until the following day, this is preferable.

On the 3rd Thursday of each month the Practice participates in CCG Sponsored Training, you should telephone 111, the new Integrated Emergency Care Service  from 13:00-16:30, however the Surgery doors are open.

This service is made up of local doctors and operates from 18:30 - 07:45 Monday to Friday and 18:30 Friday to 07:45 Monday and all Public & Bank Holidays.

The 111 Service will either:

• Advise you over the telephone of next steps to take, or
• Ask you to attend the nearest Primary Care Centre or
• Arrange for a doctor to visit at home for those too ill to travel.

Nearest Walk-in Centre - Junction Health Centre, Clapham

The Junction Health Centre (by Clapham Junction Station) 5-8 Grant Road, London SW11 is the nearest walk-in medical centre taking registered and non registered patients from 08:00 to 20:00, 7 days a week.

All NHS patients are welcome to use this facility.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.  

Each Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday morning (from 07:30 until 07:50) we offer a number of early morning extended hours appointments - for those wishing to get to work or for those who might not be available during the normal working day.  To book these you must go through the Telephone Triage system asking for "an early morning or late Thursday evening Extended Access Appointment" - the Doctor or Advanced Nurse Practitioner will call you back and, if appropriate and available, offer you one of these appointments.

Tuesday Morning 07:30 - 08:00 last appointment 07:50 - usually 2 Doctors

Wednesday Morning 07:30 - 08:00 last appointment 07:50 - usually 2 Doctors

Friday Morning 07:30 - 08:00 last appointment 07:50 - usually 2 Doctors

The Improving Health Limited (IHL) Extended Primary Care Service (EPCS), provides extra Doctor and Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) appointments.

This service is delivered from either the Tessa Jowell Center in East Dulwich or the Lister Primary Care Centre in Peckham.

The EPCS is open 08:00 – 20:00, 7 days a week but it is NOT a walk in centre.

You may be offered an appointment at this EPCS when there are none available at our Practice.  It is strongly advised that you take up the offer of the appointment at this EPCS as this will be the quickest or earliest chance for you to see a Doctor or ANP.

Doctors and nurses at the EPCS can access a patient’s full medical records (with the patient’s consent) to be able to offer the right care and treatment.

IHL also has a number of slots where they will ring you back to discuss your matters (similarly like our Doctors do here) and again if deemed appropriate they will offer you an appointment direct and ask you to come and see them that day/early the next day.

Background

The IHL has been running for several years and was set up as part of the Prime Minister's Challenge Fund, a challenge to GP Practices across the country, to open up more access and appointments to patients. Southwark CCG took this up as one of the first CCGs in the UK to do so and worked with all the Southwark Practices to form 2 distinctive GP Federations, QHS in the North and IHL in the South.  Soon after forming the federation, the EPCS (Extended Primary Care Service) was commissioned and it has evolved now into a multi faceted organisation capable of seeing large numbers of patients on the day Monday - Friday and others as directed by GP Practices at the weekend.  The organisation is led by a senior General Manager supported by GP and senior Healthcare Directors from South Southwark practices, but the main core of work is delivered by Southwark GPs and Nurses.

The Government backed this up with £2M of funding in the first year and it is funded each year by the CCG to maintain its running costs etc.

This is a very valuable and worthy Primary Care GP service administered by the South Southwark GP Federation and comprises 19 Practices in South Southwark are working with to ensure as much patient access as possible.

To arrange to speak to a Doctor or Advanced Nurse Practitioner you must telephone between 08:00 and 10:00. We will try to answer you call as quickly as possible however during busier periods you may experience a wait but please do hold as we will answer your call.

This includes requesting a routine (non-urgent) Doctor or Advanced Nurse Practitioner appointment.

For all non-urgent/routine enquiries please telephone 020 7703 3788 or call in at the Surgery between the hours of 11:00 - 15:00, examples of non-urgent/routine enquiries are:

• Insurance/other medical reports
• Enquiries about referrals
  • Your referral will have been sent to either Kings or Guys and there are waiting times for each clinic. If you are not given an appointment when we refer you then the hospital will place you on a waiting list.
  • We regret that we have no influence on your appointment date however we can look to see if another hospital can see you sooner.
• Test results that we have not contacted you about (these will be normal as we contact all patients directly should we wish to speak to you about a test/result)
• Prescription enquiries
  
  • Please use Patient Access or the NHS App to order your prescriptions, this is the safest and quickest way to order any repeated medications

  • Please order in good time, up to 1 week in advance as it can take up to 3 working days for your prescription request to be completed.
